Compress images without uploading them

Make JPG, PNG and WebP images smaller for email, websites and forms. Everything happens on your device. No upload

How to compress an image

  1. Choose, drop or paste one or more images.
  2. Pick an output format, quality and maximum size. Results update right away.
  3. Download each image, or all of them as one ZIP file.

Which settings should I use?

Photos: JPG or WebP at quality 75–85 with a maximum size of 1920 px usually cuts file size by 70–90% with no visible difference on screens. WebP files are typically 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same quality, and all modern browsers support WebP.

Screenshots, logos and graphics with text: keep PNG if you need sharp edges or transparency, and lower the maximum size. JPG can blur text and replaces transparent areas with white.

If a compressed file would come out larger than your original, for example an image that was already optimized, the tool keeps the original and tells you.

Why no upload matters

Most online compressors send your files to a server. This page uses your browser's built-in image engine instead, so your photos never leave your device. You can turn off your internet connection after the page loads and it still works. Compressed copies also leave out hidden camera metadata (EXIF), such as GPS location. The exception is an original kept as-is because it was already optimized. If you only want to remove metadata without changing quality, use Remove EXIF.

Questions

Is there a file size or count limit?

There is no fixed limit. Your device's memory is the only constraint. Very large images (over about 50 megapixels) may be slow on phones.

Can it open HEIC photos from an iPhone?

Only if your browser can display HEIC. Safari can, and most other browsers cannot. See converting HEIC to JPG for how to do it on your device first.

Does it keep transparency?

PNG and WebP keep transparency. JPG does not support it, so transparent areas become white.

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, watermark or limit.
